Forrado

Developed in collaboration with Ana Vidigal, Forrado takes Madeira’s landscape and microclimate as a starting point for thinking about the relationship between nature, perception and control.

Through textile works that move between painting and object, weather becomes a way of addressing uncertainty, hesitation and the desire to predict what cannot be controlled. Colour, stitching, layering and exposed construction bring surface and structure together, while the island’s persistent cloud cover becomes both subject and condition — something observed, interpreted and waited upon.
